Which tool, and why
Before getting the machine out we find out what is blocking the drain and where. Hair in a shower trap is a different job from wet wipes stuck in the soil stack of a block of flats, or sand in a garden manhole.
For a localised blockage we use a drain cable machine, which reaches the plug, breaks it up and pulls it out. When the pipe is coated inside with grease or limescale, water jetting cleans the walls so the blockage does not come back a few weeks later.
If the real problem is the pipework itself (not enough fall, a badly made bend, a broken pipe), we explain it and quote for the repair separately.
A real job: drain full of building rubble
In a recently renovated home the drain would not take any water. When we opened the pipe we found cement, lime and rubble that had gone down the drain during the works. We cut out the blocked section and replaced it.

Why drains block on the coast and in town
Wet wipes in holiday rentals. In Arenales del Sol, Santa Pola and Gran Alacant, short-stay guests flush wipes and sanitary products. They do not break down and end up blocking the toilet bend or the soil stack.
Sand from the beach. Sand washed off in the shower settles in traps and horizontal pipes and slowly closes them.
Dry traps in closed homes. After weeks with nobody using the water, traps dry out and sewer smells come up. Run every tap for a few seconds when you arrive; if the smell stays, call us.
Old soil stacks in town. Many 1960s–70s blocks in Elche still have cast-iron or asbestos-cement stacks with rough insides that catch everything.

Try this before calling
- Shower or basin: lift the grid or plug and pull out the hair. Often that is all it takes.
- Kitchen sink trap: put a bucket underneath, unscrew it and clean it out.
- Toilet: use a bell-shaped plunger with enough water in the bowl to cover it.
Please avoid
- Caustic soda or strong drain chemicals again and again: they damage seals and old pipes.
- Mixing bleach with other cleaners: it can release toxic gas.
- Coat hangers in the toilet: they scratch the porcelain and push the blockage further.

How much does it cost to unblock a drain in Elche?
It depends on where the blockage is and the method needed. A trap or a toilet is quicker than a soil stack or a buried manhole. You get a fixed price before we start.
Water comes up in the shower when I flush the toilet. What is wrong?
The blockage is further down, in the shared bathroom pipe or the soil stack. Stop flushing and call us, as it may overflow.
Why does my apartment smell of drains when I arrive?
Usually the traps have dried out while the property was empty. Run all taps and flush the toilet. If the smell does not go, there may be a faulty seal or a ventilation problem in the stack, and we will check it.
Can you come the same day?
If water is coming out or you cannot use the toilet, we treat it as an emergency. We work every day from 7:00 to 21:30.
The blockage came back after a month. Why?
Because the cause is still there: grease along the whole pipe, too little fall or a pipe in poor condition. We jet the whole section and tell you if the pipework needs correcting.
