Water heater repair and replacement in Elche

Lukewarm showers, a water heater dripping from the bottom, the electrics tripping when it switches on, or a unit that is simply old. In Spain most homes have an electric storage heater, the termo. We check yours, tell you whether it is worth repairing and, if not, fit a new one.

  • New hoses, isolation valves and safety valve with every installation

Real water heater jobs

From draining the old unit to the new one running, with every connection done properly.

Repair or replace?

If the unit is only a few years old and one part has failed (element, thermostat or valve), repairing it nearly always makes sense.

If the tank itself leaks, is rusty outside or is more than about 10 years old, replacing it is usually the better choice: a corroded tank cannot be fixed.

We give you both options with prices and you decide.

Which size do you need?

  • 30–50 litres: one person, or a beach apartment used in summer
  • 80 litres: a couple or small family with one bathroom
  • 100 litres: a family with two bathrooms
  • 150 litres or more: large families or villas with several showers

We also check where it will hang, whether the wall can take the weight and whether it fits the old unit's space.

Hard water and your water heater

Water around Elche is hard. When it heats up, limescale settles at the bottom of the tank and on the element, which ends up working as if wrapped in a blanket: slower heating, higher electricity bills and an early burn-out.

A service every two to three years, with descaling and a new anode, adds years of life. To deal with the problem at source, a water softener protects the heater and the rest of the plumbing.

Tips for holiday homes

  • Set the thermostat to about 55–60 °C: hot enough, with less limescale
  • If your electricity tariff has cheaper hours, set the heater to work then
  • When you leave for months, switch it off at the plug but leave it full of water
  • A few drops from the safety valve while heating is normal; constant dripping is not

Water heaters: FAQ

How much does it cost to install a new water heater in Elche?

It depends on size and brand, whether the existing connections can be reused and whether the old unit has to be removed. You get a fixed price with unit and labour before we start.

My water heater keeps tripping the electrics. Why?

Usually the element has been perforated by limescale and is leaking current into the water. Stop resetting the RCD, unplug the heater and call us.

Do you take the old water heater away?

Yes, we remove it when we fit the new one.

Can you replace the water heater while I am abroad?

Yes. Tell us who has the keys, send a photo of the current unit's label and we agree the model and price with you on WhatsApp before fitting it.

Which areas do you cover?

Elche, Arenales del Sol, El Altet, Torrellano, Santa Pola and Gran Alacant, Crevillent, Aspe and Novelda.

No hot water?

Send us a photo of the label on your water heater and we will advise you.
